When faced with crisis, we are called to remember what is truly important to our salvation.

Judgement and withholding forgiveness are both ways we try to play God. The trouble is, when we play God, we often end up with a God who mirrors our own worst selves.

Our anxiety about addressing our own needs is destroying the natural world, and, in turn, threatening our own survival. Jesus points to the lilies and sparrows as teachers of a profound faith that could help heal our fragile world: absolute trust in God's grace through all of Creation and the promise of God's kingdom.

When Jesus rebukes Peter for trying to lead him away from the cross, we are reminded of our call to move through suffering as Christ did, and to find the hope of resurrection in the face of tragedy.
